NANBU Ironware

NANBU Ironware 南部鉄器
Nambu Tekki from Morioka, Iwate prefecture is one of the famous Japanese traditional ironware.
People enjoy Nanbu Testubin (kettle) for their beauty of craftmanship and also for thier helth benefits of iron.
The iron workers in this region produce many different types of ironware nowadays, include windchimes, paper weights and pan/pot.

Iron Kettle
-TETSUBIN- 鉄瓶


Before initial use:
Boil water in Tetsubin-kettle 2-3 times.
Throw away boiled water every time before replacing water.

Important notes:
- The kettle and a handle will be very HOT ! Handle with care.
- Do not leave the water in the kettle for prolonged periods. May result in blackened water or rusting on the kettle.
- General purpose for this kettle is boiling water.
Brewing herbal medicine in the kettle may result in blackened water or the odor remaining in future uses. Separating purpose of usage is recommended.(Ex. One kettle for boiling medicine, another for boiling water)
- After using for several days, you may notice light yellow boiling scales on inner surface. It will not affect kettle functioning, so please do not attempt to forcefully remove.

After care:
- Dump the water out when it is still hot to let it dry from remaining heat. Or heat the kettle again to dry completely.
- Never wash inside of kettle with soap, by hand or any type of sponge.
- Wipe the outer kettle with a tea soaked damp cloth or newspaper.(Never wipe inside!)
- Wipe the spout, inner tip of kettle opening, and back of a lid as these areas rust easily.
- In case of rust: Boiling the water with tea leaves helps remove rust. (Putting tea leaves in a tea bag is recommended)
- Storing for longer periods: Dry completely. Wrap with newspaper. The paper absorbs excess moisture over the time.

Iron Tea Pot
-TETSU KYUSU- 鉄急須


Before initial use:
Well rinse the pot and the tea strainer with lukewarm water.
You may notice slightly colored water from the pot at beginning.

Important notes:
- The pot will be HOT ! Handle with care.
- This pot is made for brewing tea ONLY!
NEVER heat it over stovetop, exposed flame or in microwave.
This pot's inner surface is coated with black enamel to prevent from rusting.
Brewing herbal medicine or other than tea in the pot may result discolored pot, rusting and/or the odor remaining in future uses.
- Recommended not placing the pot directly on the table. Use a dish mat to avoid heat from the pot and its rough surface.
- Do not leave the water in the pot for prolonged periods. May result rusting on the pot.

After care:
- Well rinse the pot and the tea strainer with lukewarm water.
Soft sponge may be used to wash inside very gently. Never use soap and a steal sponge to wash the pot.
- Dry the outer pot with a soft cloth by pressing over the surface. Never wipe inside!
- Wipe the spout, inner tip of kettle opening, and back of a lid as these areas rust easily.
- Dry completely before storing.
