JUBAKO

A Jubako 重箱 is a traditional Japanese tiered lacquered box used for food presentation and storage in special events. It is often decorated with traditional lucky items such as crane (Tsuru), pine (Matsu), plum (Ume) and fan (Ougi) in gold or silver over plain black or red lacquer, it is a simplicity and beauty of it!

Jubako are most often used during new year's celebrations to serve traditional Japanese foods, called Osechi 御節, which consist of variety of food for a special meaning celebrating the New Year. Jubako are also great as general storage boxes for jewelry or other keepsakes.
